CrystalensCrystalens

Eye Physicians of Central Florida also offers Crystalens®, an accommodating intraocular lens that also can treat both cataracts and presbyopia – loss of near and intermediate vision. It provides another option to reduce or eliminate your dependence on glasses following cataract surgery.

The Crystalens® was modeled after the human eye and like your eye’s natural lens, it uses the eye muscle to move back and forth, adjusting your focus so that you can see at all distances.

A multifocal lens projects several images, requiring your brain to adjust to the differences. By contrast, Crystalens® focuses only one image to the back of the eye.

The Effectiveness of Crystalens® --

Crystalens® IOL
  • The FDA-approved crystalens® IOL is inserted using the same minimally invasive, outpatient cataract surgical procedure that has been performed for decades.
  • In clinical trials, significantly more patients implanted with a crystalens® (88.4%) could see better at all distances than patients who received a standard IOL (35.9%).
  • Most patients have continued to report excellent vision 7 years after surgery with crystalens®.

Your Eye Physicians of Central Florida ophthalmologist can answer any questions you may have and help you decide if cataract surgery with Crystalens® is best for you.
