Dr. Kleiman joining the practice

October 2009:
Eye Physicians of Central Florida Welcomes Ophthalmologist and Cornea Specialist Lynda Z. Kleiman, M.D.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Eye Physicians of Central Florida is pleased to announce that ophthalmologist and cornea specialist Lynda Z. Kleiman, M.D., has joined the practice and will see patients in the Longwood and Winter Park offices. Dr. Kleiman joins David B. Auerbach, D.O., and Victor B. Thomas, M.D., in providing general ophthalmology care and cataract surgery. In addition, she has expertise in diseases of the cornea -- the clear, round, "window" of tissue that allows light to enter the front of the eye -- including infection and injury. Dr. Kleiman also specializes in surgery of the cornea, including the latest corneal transplant techniques.

Board-certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Kleiman served as an assistant professor of clinical ophthalmology from 2005 to 2009 at Columbia University’s Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute in New York where she also completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease. She served her residency in ophthalmology at NYU Medical Center/Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital and her internship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine/Cabrini Medical Center also in New York.  Dr. Kleiman earned her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine.

“We are excited to be adding someone to our team who is both a general ophthalmologist and a cornea specialist,” explained Eye Physicians of Central Florida’s Robert S. Gold, M.D. “Dr. Kleiman comes to us with stellar credentials, training and experience. She will really help to round out our team of eye care specialists, allowing us to provide a full range of eye care to better meet our patient’s individual needs.”

In New York, Dr. Kleiman trained and worked alongside some of the leaders in her field.  She split her time between teaching and providing patient care. In Orlando, Dr. Kleiman will focus primarily on caring for patients and is also involved with the University of Central Florida’s College of Medicine.  “What I enjoy most is taking care of patients,” said Dr. Kleiman. “When I made the decision to move to Orlando, a colleague in New York recommended Eye Physicians of Central Florida as a highly respected and experienced practice with outstanding physicians.  I am excited to become a part of this group.”
