Cataract patients now have an option to see at both near and far distances after cataract surgery! Individuals suffering from cataracts previously had only a mono-focal lens implant option after surgery. NEW multi-focal, accommodating and astigmatic correction IOL technology can now decrease dependence on glasses after surgery. These include the AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL, Crystalens® and the AcrySof® Toric IOL. If you are seeking one of these options, please feel free to consult our staff.

“For me, it is a miracle. I depend on my eyes for everything I enjoy – reading, wood working and golf. In fact, I had to give up my golf game in recent years because I couldn’t see well enough. Now I’m looking forward to getting on the course again.”
– Don DeGraw, AcrySof® ReSTOR® Cataract Patient
Winter Park resident Don DeGraw, a retiree and avid reader, was one of the first patients to receive the AcrySof® ReSTOR® intraocular lens at Eye Physicians of Central Florida in June 2005. Prior to the surgery by David B. Auerbach, D.O., DeGraw had to wear reading glasses and use a magnifying glass just to read the newspaper every morning. The day after surgery he was able to see the paper clearly without any assistance and also read the street signs as his wife drove him to his post-operative appointment. “For me, it is a miracle,” said DeGraw. “I depend on my eyes for everything I enjoy – reading, wood working and golf. In fact, I had to give up my golf game in recent years because I couldn’t see well enough. Now I’m looking forward to getting on the course again.”
*According to the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL clinical studies, three out of four patients implanted in both eyes with the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR multifocal IOL reported never wearing glasses following cataract surgery.
“Dr. Thomas never gave up on me. I just love him. He is everything a patient would like to see in a doctor.”
– Josephine Sheppard, Patient
Josephine Sheppard’s dry eyes were so bad that she couldn’t even open them at times. She sought treatment from Dr. Thomas at Eye Physicians of Central Florida. He tried a number of different medications to treat the problem. However, Josephine had allergic reactions to many of them, and none really seemed to work.
Dr. Thomas then inserted punctual plugs which has provided Josephine much-needed relief.
“Dr. Thomas never gave up on me,” explained Josephine. “He is so patient and a real sweetheart. I’m finally feeling better thanks to surgery and his consistent care. I just love him. He is everything a patient would like to see in a doctor.”
“Since I had my cataract surgery a year ago, I see great! I love the convenience of not having to wear glasses anymore. Dr. Auerbach was personable, relaxed, compassionate and sympathetic to my needs.”
– Anne Gold, AcrySof® ReSTOR® Cataract Patient
Anne Gold began noticing that her vision wasn’t as sharp as it used to be, and her glasses and contact lens prescriptions were changing more frequently. She learned she had cataracts in both eyes. Anne knew she needed surgery, and she didn’t want to have to wear glasses afterward. So, in June of 2007, she came to Dr. Auerbach at Eye Physicians of Central Florida. Dr. Auerbach was the first surgeon in Central Florida to offer cataract surgery with the new AcrySof® ReSTOR® intraocular lens (IOL) which allows many patients to see clearly at all distances without bifocals or reading glasses.
“Since I had my cataract surgery a year ago, I see great,” reported Anne. “I love the convenience of not having to wear glasses anymore. And Dr. Auerbach is a wonderful surgeon and physician. He was personable, relaxed, compassionate and sympathetic to my needs.”
