What To Expect After Cataract Surgery
What To Expect After Cataract Surgery
After your cataract surgery, you will rest for a short time before going home. You will return to Eye Physicians of Central Florida within 24 hours so that your surgeon can examine your eye. Most patients require eye drops for about three weeks after surgery to prevent infection and inflammation. For the first few days after surgery, you may also need to wear a protective shield to prevent you from rubbing your eye, especially at night when you are sleeping. You can continue most daily activities but should avoid strenuous activities until your ophthalmologist says you may resume them. Your doctor will also tell you when you can begin driving.
New Options for Better Vision
This is a very exciting time for patients having cataract surgery. In the past, the lens which was inserted into the eye to focus light left the patient needing bifocals or reading glasses because the lens implant could not focus light for both near and far distances.
However, the FDA approved new lens implants which can now focus light for all distances. When these lenses are inserted into both eyes, there is an 80 percent chance you will never need glasses for any task whether near or far!
